Despite promising advances in renewable energy and all that we know about the need to transform our energy system, fossil fuels still account for the vast majority of energy we use today. Are we being realistic with our assumptions that these new energy sources will come online with a speed and capacity to avoid supply constraints, and are we prepared for the very real possibility that we may not achieve this Herculean undertaking?
